Driver/Coach/Receptionist - Jonny Downie
Hello, my name is Jonny Downie and I have been an instructor for two years now during which time I have taught out in Greece for a holiday company and then last year I had a great summer teaching at Water Ski Scotland. I had my first ever lesson when I was around 12 at Loch Earn in April, during the course of this lesson I decided to put my career of water sports on hold until the weather decided to buck up its ideas. And so when I was 14 my dad persuaded me back onto the water, this time at Water Ski Scotland during our blistering summer. I got up on top of the water and realized why people felt the need to fling themselves into the water, tie a rope to a boat and get driven up and down a loch... it made sense now. I managed to persuade some friends to come up and join in, who after some coaxing into the water realised the great allure to water skiing. Before I got my instructors certificate I was teaching my friends up at Loch Tay, where one of my friends had bought a boat for skiing, trying to make everything as fun as possible was key. In 2008 I got my SBDA and instructors certificate deciding that a summer in Greece wouldn’t actually be a bad idea. I taught for 5 months, it was great to see guest’s truly excelling and loving going out on the water over the course of their holiday. In the summer of 2009 it was by sheer coincidence that I managed to get the job as an instructor with Water Ski Scotland. It was an excellent learning experience with the likes of Stuart Wood, Duncan, Sam Haslam and many more very much helping to develop my driving and teaching abilities. Originally a wakeboarder last year I started concentrating on Slalom Skiing and wearing the appropriate colour coordinated items whilst doing so, a key element. The reason for doing so... I want to go fast.

To compliment the "Team" we are fortunate to have a pool of part time seasonal drivers/coaches/receptionists so a big thanks to Sam, Mark, Sammi, Joanne, James, Ali, and many more, in fact too many to list here but all are volunteers and fully committed to give you a great experience at the National Training Site.
