VICTORIOUS SCOTS AT CELTIC CHALLENGE

Posted on Monday, 25 August 2008 07:33AM by ALAN G MURRAY
The weekend of 23/24th August saw a team of 7 skiers making the journey from all over Ireland to compete against 7 of the best Scottish Skiers in the Celtic Challenge. This Annual Tournament has been hotly contested for over two decades with the honours being fairly well shared. Due to varying circumstances the event has not taken place for the past 2/3years.  Thankfully after a lot of effort and negotiations from both parties we were delighted to host the event once more at the National Training site in Townhill Dunfermline.

The weather did not let us down with excellent skiing conditions on Saturday from early morning to the 6pm finish. The event format was 2 rounds Slalom, 2 rounds Trick and 2 rounds Jump on the Saturday leaving the final round of each on Sunday.

Sundays weather was a bit breezy and the skiers only managed to compete in 1 round of Slalom and Tricks, the Jump being cancelled deemed unsafe by the judging panel due to a fairly firm tail wind.

After a tightly fought battle the Scots came out on top and so retaining the Celtic Shield for 2008

Results and more pictures of the event to follow:
